In certain cities, militias are resisting the military offensive ordered by self- proclaimed acting President Alexander Turchinov, backed by Neo-Nazi groups, the very same that overthrew the country’s elected president, Viktor Yanukovich, in February.
Colville requested prompt and transparent investigations into the violent actions taking place in the regions of Odessa and Donetsk, which have killed scores of people.
He also demanded that rebels, stationed in southeast Ukraine, lay down their weapons and stop occupying public buildings.

Washington uses Ukraine a pawn in its big geopolitical game, Igor Ivanov, Russia’s former Foreign Minister and now President of the Russian International Affairs Council, said in an article published in Wednesday’s issue of the Rossiiskaya Gazeta daily.
“Americans are not going to offer serious help to Kiev and undertake considerable economic expenses,” Ivanov noted. “What matters for Washington is not Ukraine, but the advantage it could derive for its own interests from the crisis.”
At a current stage, according to Ivanov, Washington was seeking to solve at least three tasks, which were only indirectly related to Ukraine. “The first task is to contain Russia, not to let it consolidate its international positions,” he said. “The second task is to breathe n a new life into disoriented NATO and at the same time to make Europeans эе more generous in military spending. The third task is to consolidate its own positions on the global energy markets trying to reshape them in its own interests.”
“It would be a fatal mistake not to continue the work commenced a week ago in Geneva,” the Russian politician stressed. “It is absolutely obvious that Ukraine of today is a powder keg, which will explode sooner or later. And the consequences will be grave, if not catastrophic, for all.”
‘The Geneva statement, although laconic and declarative, is now the only basis that could be used to build up international cooperation on the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis,” he emphasized.
In his words, further work on the statement should take into account the fact that "Ukraine’s most pressing tasks are to stop violence and deescalate the crisis. Apart from that, a threat of an economic and financial collapse of the Ukrainian state with all possible consequences must prompt Russia, the European Union and the United States “to waste no time and begin to work on economic measures, which are essential now and without which any talk about a constitutional reform or other political transformation are pointless.” Ivanov called on the participants in the Geneva talks to “promptly reach an agreement on how to ensure democratic, transparent and fair elections in Ukraine, and not only presidential elections, but also the elections of a new Verkhovna Rada.”
“All parties concerned must not seek tactical advantages but should be committed to help Ukraine overcome the most acute crisis,” he stressed. However, he reminded, shortly after the signing of the Geneva statement the US president publicly voiced doubts that this statement would be implemented. This way, he “intentionally or not, sided with those who need no settlement at all, who are interested in further escalation of tension in and around Ukraine,” Ivanov added.

Washington has no intention of allowing the crisis in Ukraine to be resolved. Having failed to seize the country and evict Russia from its Black Sea naval base, Washington sees new opportunities in the crisis.
One is to restart the Cold War by forcing the Russian government to occupy the Russian-speaking areas of present day Ukraine where protesters are objecting to the stooge anti-Russian government installed in Kiev by the American coup. These areas of Ukraine are former constituent parts of Russia herself. They were attached to Ukraine by Soviet leaders in the 20th century when both Ukraine and Russia were part of the same country, the USSR.
Essentially, the protesters have established independent governments in the cities. The j police and military units sent to suppress the protesters, called “terrorists” in the American fashion, for the most part have until now defected to the protesters.
With Obama's incompetent White House and State Department having botched Washington’s takeover of Ukraine, Washington has been at work shifting the blame to Russia. According to Washington and its presstitute media, the protests are orchestrated, by the Russian government and have no sincere basis. If Russia sends in military units to protect the Russian citizens in the former Russian territories, the act will be used by Washington to confirm Washington’s propaganda of a Russian invasion (as in the case of Georgia) and Russia but it is not. The Wolfowitz doctrine is the basis of US policy toward Russia and China). The doctrine regards any power sufficiently strong to remain independent of Washington’s influence to be “hostile.” The doctrine states:
“Our first objective is to prevent the re-emergence of a new rival, either on the territory of the former Soviet Union or elsewhere, that poses a threat on the order of that posed formerly by the Soviet Union. This is a dominant consideration underlying the new regional defense strategy and requires that we endeavor to prevent any hostile power from dominating a region whose resources would, under consolidated control, be sufficient to generate global power.”
The Wolfowitz doctrine justifies Washington’s dominance of all regions. It is consistent with the neoconservative ideology of the US as the “indispensable” and “exceptional” country entitled to world hegemony.
Russia and China are in the way of US world hegemony. Unless the Wolfowitz doctrine is abandoned, nuclear war is the likely outcome.
The Russian government is in a predicament. Moscow does not want financial responsibility for these territories but cannot stand aside and permit Russians to be put down by force. The Russian government has attempted to keep Ukraine intact, relying on the forthcoming elections in Ukraine to bring to office more realistic leaders than the stooges installed by Washington.
However, Washington does not want an election that might replace its stooges and return to cooperating with Russia to resolve the situation. There is a good chance that Washington will tell its stooges in Kiev to declare that the crisis brought to Ukraine by Russia prevents an election. Washington’s NATO puppet states would back up this claim.
It is almost certain that despite the Russian government’s hopes, the Russian government is faced with the continuation of both the crisis and the Washington puppet government in Ukraine.
On May 1 Washington’s former ambassador to Russia, now NATO’s ‘’second-in-command” but the person who, being American, calls the shots, has declared Russia to no longer be a partner but an enemy. The American, Alexander Vershbow, told journalists that NATO has given up on “drawing Moscow closer” and soon will deploy a large number of combat forces in Eastern Europe. Vershbow called this aggressive policy deployment of ‘defensive assets to the region.”
In other words, here we have again the lie that the Russian government is going to forget all about its difficulties in Ukraine and launch attacks on Poland, the Baltic States, Romania., Moldova, and on the central Asian states of Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, The dissembler Vershbow wants to modernize the militaries of these American puppet states and “seize the opportunity to create the reality on the ground by accepting membership of aspirant countries into NATO.”
What Vershbow has told the Russian government is that you just keep on relying on Western good will and reasonableness while we set up sufficient military forces to prevent Russia from coming to the aid of its oppressed citizens in Ukraine. Our demonization of Russia is working It has made you hesitant to act during the short period when you could preempt us and seize your former territories. By waiting you give us time to mass forces on your borders from the Baltic Sea to Central Asia That will distract you and keep you from the Ukraine. The oppression we will inflict on your Russians in Ukraine will discredit you, and the NGOs we finance in the Russian Federation will appeal to nationalist sentiments and overthrow your government for failing to come to the aid of Russians and failing to protect Russia’s strategic interests.
Washington is licking its chops, seeing an opportunity to gain Russia as s puppet state.
Will Putin sit there with his hopes awaiting the West's good will to work out a solution while Washington attempts to engineer his fall?
The time is approaching when Russia л/ill either have to act to terminate he crisis or accept an ongoing crisis and distraction in its backyard. Kiev has launched military airstrikes on protesters in Slavyansk. On May 2 -Russian government spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Kiev’s resort to violence had destroyed the hope for the Geneva agreement on de-escalating the crisis. Yet, the Russian government spokesman again expressed the hope of the Russian government that European governments and Washington will put a stop to the military strikes and pressure the Kiev government to accommodate the protesters in a way that keeps Ukraine together and restores friendly relations with Russia.
This is a false hope. It assumes that the Wolfowitz doctrine is just words.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov said today that Russia will not allow a revival of fascism, even as Europe ignores the rebirth of that ' ideology on the continent.
Paying tribute to the historic date of the 69th Anniversary of Russia s Victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945), and the victims of Odessa’s tragedy, Lavrov said that what happened in that Ukrainian city on May 2nd was a manifestation of fascism.
“For many years Europe has been turning a blind eye to the revival of the ideology of fascism. We will not permit a revival of fascism in Europe, much less in Russia,” Lavrov told Russian media, as seen on Russia's TV channel 24.
Lavrov said that this is not a question of simple marches by neo-Nazi supporters glorifying nationalist criminals but a live manifestation of fascism.
Regarding the events in Odessa, Lavrov said that they are acts of pure fascism and that “we will not permit the facts to be swept under the carpet. We will seek the truth.”
He condemned acting Kiev authorities for sheltering and using far-right and fascist sectors, and for consciously downplaying the tragedy in Odessa, compared by its population and specialists to the Jatin massacre in Belarus during the Great Patriotic War.
Lavrov said that not a single suspect has been arrested and Kiev authorities are not even bothering to investigate the crime, but insisted that Moscow will seek the truth for all.
In Odessa, a fire started deliberately by groups of the fascist organization Right Sector and neo-Nazi extremist soccer fans claimed more than 100 victims, although Ukrainian police reported only 46 fatalities and some 200 injured.

Moscow, May 1 (Prensa Latina)
Russia warned on Thursday about the disastrous and catastrophic consequences of a military assault operation against the advocates of federalization in southeastern Ukraine, as announced by authorities in Kiev.
The National Security Council of Ukraine informed about the continuity of the large-scale operation in the regions that do not recognize the coup government in Kiev, in order to recover by force the government institutions controlled by the popular militias.
According to Ukrainian sources, the assault phase might begin on Friday and combatants from the ultra-nationalistic Right Sector would play a key role, local media reported.
The Russian Foreign Ministry pointed out in a communiqué that it was concerned about information published by local media about the intentions of the Ukrainian de facto authorities to carry out a military operation, even with the participation of the aforementioned fascist organization.
Such irresponsible and aggressive actions by the incumbent Ukrainian government may have catastrophic consequences, according to the press release.
The Russian Foreign Ministry warned that those criminal actions against the Ukrainian people would demonstrate that authorities in Kiev are incapable of complying with the agreements signed in Geneva on April 17 to end violence immediately.
It would also be an example of their incapacity and lack of will to propitiate broad national dialogue including all regions and political forces, the document stressed.
Moscow also described as a farce and supine cynicism the publicized intention of Ukrainian authorities to carry out a national referendum on May 25, as it continues organizing the military operation against the civilian population in the eastern part of the country.
According to the communiqué, Kiev has the intention of submitting questions regarding the country’s .unity, territorial integrity and an alleged decentralization of powers to a referendum, without holding a general poll on the self-determination of the southern and eastern regions.
The junta installed in the Government after the February 22 coup d’état did not respond to the demands presented by activists and self- defense militias in the cities of Kharkiv, Donetsk and Lugansk, and mobilized military divisions equipped with tanks, armored vehicles and aviation to those regions.

Romanian military units moving towards Ukrainian border
According to information available, in Romania military units are moving towards the eastern borders – a military echelon loaded with antiaircraft guns, trucks and ground -to- air missile systems has moved via Bucharest towards the Black Sea port of Constanta. The military units are needed for conducting joint military exercises with the participation of the US servicemen and four American F-16 fighter jets, according to the Romanian Defense Ministry officials told newsmen.
“The maneuvers will be held in compliance with the plan on strategic partnership existing between Romania and the US,” Romanian Minister of National Defense Mircea Dusa announced.
Earlier Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, and Estonia asked NATO to strengthen its military presence in their countries because of the Ukrainian crisis. As soon as it broke out, the AWACS planes started their daily flights over the southern part of Romania, taking off from the NATO air base Gelsenkirchen in Germany in order to conduct radar intelligence operations which covered the southern part of Ukraine, Moldova and Crimpy
At the same time, Romanian President Trian Basescu satisfied Washington’s request to increase the number of marines on the NATO air base in Germany from 1,000 to 1,600. In addition, the Romanian authorities asked official Washington to deploy a squadron of US fighter jets on their territory for the period until 2017.
The plans of an increase in the US military presence in Romania are being criticized by both politicians and the public in the country. An adviser to Romanian Prime Minister lonel Bianculescu voiced his fears, saying that the US had turned Romania into a “good target” in case of military escalation in the region.
On the other hand, a number of Romanian political analysts believe that in view of the events in Ukraine, Bucharest must be well prepared for bringing its troops into the territories of the Odessa and Chernovtsy regions. “Intervention to the north of the Bukovina region, to the south of Bessarabia and Transnistria is becoming inevitable and even necessary, especially in case Ukraine is unable to maintain public order on the territories where the Romanian population lives,” an analyst of the popular Romanian newspaper Adevarul”, Dinu Zare, wrote in his article, TASS reports.
Romania starts to relocate antiaircraft artillery and rockets.
A train loaded with anti-aircraft guns, trucks and surface-to-air missiles was spotted in Bucharest, the Ukrainian National News (UNN) agency reports.
The echelon was reportedly bound for Constanza ahead of joint military
exercises due to be held by Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia and the United
States in the south of Macedonia.
